How to Get Discounted Gorilla Permits in Rwanda

Currently, Rwanda Gorilla permit cost US$1500 but there are circumstances under which Rwanda gives 30% discount on Gorilla permit. It should be noted that Rwanda has one national park where gorilla treks are done; namely Volcanoes National Park. Below are the top five reasons why Rwanda gives discount on Gorilla permits:

  1. Visiting other parks – The guest is entitled 30% discount when he or she proves a visit to Nyungwe National Park, Akagera National Park along side Volcanoes National Park. The visitor is supposed to present his or her itinerary and proof of payments to accommodation in the listed three parks.
  2. Tour operators who have booked more than many trips in Rwanda within a year. All east African tour operators with more than 5 trips booked within a year are entitled to discounted gorilla permit.
  3. A group of more than 15 visitors can also bargain for discounted Gorilla permits. There is special discount for tour leaders.
  4. The need to promote tourism – Rwanda Development Board always find ways of promoting tourism by offering discounted Gorilla permits to visitors who tours other destinations on the same trip
  5. It’s among the Gorilla trekking strategies – there is a need for more people to see Gorillas. Among many trekkers, some are capable of marketing Gorillas via social media, open air crusades among other ways.
